Veteran Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik has revealed that he was convinced that the match against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) would be his last. Karthik felt this way because RCB had lost seven out of their first eight games, and it seemed like they wouldn’t qualify for the playoffs.
However, the team’s turnaround has been nothing short of sensational. They won their next six games in a row, which helped them secure the fourth spot in the IPL 2024 Points Table.
In a video posted by RCB on their social media, Dinesh Karthik revealed that he had planned to have his family watch him play for the last time against CSK, assuming his team wouldn’t advance to the next phase. Here’s what he said:
“Three weeks ago I made this decision that okay seven losses from eight games so this (May 18) will be my last day. I called 26 members of my family and I thought it will be my last day. But they ended up realizing that, I maybe playing a few more games.”

Karthik praised the players for not giving up, despite the difficult first half of the season. He also explained that the conditions were against RCB, as they had lost the toss against CSK, and expressed pride in their perseverance.
