Royal Challengers Bangalore were unhappy with the condition of the ball in their match against Chennai Super Kings. The ball was getting wet due to the soggy outfield, making it difficult for the bowlers to bowl against Chennai Super Kings batters.
Several balls slipped from the hands of the RCB bowlers, resulting in no-balls and free hits for CSK. Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli repeatedly requested the umpires to change the ball, but their pleas were denied.
MS Dhoni’s Big Six :
After hitting a massive six, MS Dhoni’s powerful shot forced the officials to change the ball. The former Chennai captain’s 110-meter six went out of the ground, leaving the umpires with no choice but to request a new ball.
Despite their efforts, the defending champions were unable to reach the target of 201 runs in 20 overs required to qualify for the Playoffs.
CSK can’t reach the Total :
CSK would have still qualified even if they had lost the game. The actual target was 219 runs, but due to their superior position in the points table, the Kings were set a target of 201 runs to advance to the next round. However, they were unable to reach that mark.
